Jamaican Jerk Cheeseburgers

A juicy and flavourful Jamaican Jerk cheeseburger, spiced with our smoky, fiery Jamaican Jerk blend, topped with melted cheese, fried pepper, and a kick of jerk mayo and BBQ sauce. Paired with crispy jerk sweet potato fries and a fresh, tangy coleslaw to complete the Caribbean feast. 🇯🇲🍔🔥🍟🥗

Ingredients

For the Jamaican Jerk Cheeseburgers 🍔🔥🇯🇲: 250g minced beef (or any ground meat of your choice), 2 tablespoons Jamaican jerk blend, 1 tablespoon oil (for frying), 1 bell pepper (sliced), 2 tablespoons BBQ sauce, 2 burger buns, 2 slices of cheddar cheese, 2 slices of tomato, 2 leaves of lettuce

For the Jerk Sweet Potato Fries 🍟🔥🇯🇲: 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into fries, 1 tablespoon oil, 1 tablespoon Jamaican jerk blend, Salt to taste, Optional: Pre-packaged frozen jerk sweet potato fries (follow package instructions)

For the Coleslaw 🥗: 1 cup (100g) shredded cabbage, ½ carrot (grated), 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1 teaspoon lime juice, ½ teaspoon sugar, ½ teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, Optional: Pre-packaged coleslaw mix (available at the supermarket)

For the Jerk Mayo 🍔🔥🇯🇲: 4 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon Jamaican jerk blend, juice of half a lime

Cooking Instructions

Marinate the Minced Beef 🍔🔥🇯🇲: In a bowl, combine the minced beef with 2 tablespoons of Jamaican jerk blend. Use your hands to mix the seasoning into the meat until well incorporated. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes (or longer, if you have the time).

Make the Jerk Mayo 🍔🔥🇯🇲: In a small bowl, mix together 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon of Jamaican jerk blend, and the juice of half a lime. Stir well until smooth and set aside.

Make the Coleslaw 🥗: In a bowl, mix together the shredded cabbage, grated carrot, mayonnaise, lime juice, sugar, salt, and chopped parsley. Toss well and let it sit for 5 minutes to allow the flavours to meld. Alternatively, you can purchase pre-packaged coleslaw from the supermarket for a quicker option.

Prepare the Jerk Sweet Potato Fries 🍟🔥🇯🇲: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Toss the sweet potato fries in oil and sprinkle with the Jamaican jerk blend and a pinch of salt. Arrange the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until crispy and golden brown. If using pre-packaged frozen jerk sweet potato fries, simply follow the cooking instructions on the package, ensuring to toss them in the Jamaican jerk blend for an extra burst of flavor.

Shape the Minced Beef into Patties 🍔: Once the beef is marinated, shape it into 2 burger patties of your preferred size.

Cook the Jamaican Jerk Cheeseburgers 🍔🔥🇯🇲: Heat a pan over medium heat and add the oil. Fry the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked through to your liking. While the burgers are cooking, slice the bell pepper and place it in the pan with a little extra oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes until soft and slightly charred. Set aside. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Assemble the Burgers 🍔: Toast the burger buns lightly in the pan. Spread 1 tablespoon of the jerk mayo on the bottom of each bun. Place the cooked jerk burger patty with melted cheese on top of the mayo. Add a few slices of tomato, some lettuce leaves, and a few slices of the fried bell pepper. Drizzle with BBQ sauce for a smoky finish. Top with the other bun.
